These are a few examples of the type projects that we have recently undertaken some of these we are still engaged on and work regularly with the clients.

Bretby Art Pottery Showroom - Woodville

Grade II

Having recently been acquired by a local building preservation trust “The Heritage Trust” the Grade II Bretby Art Pottery Showroom has been left unused and uncared for since the main factory closed over twenty years ago. Working alongside the Trust we assisted in the completion of the grant application for funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund for the completion of a project viability study. Following the success of the application, we then worked with the Trust to look at various options for reuse and produced the viability report for them. Our involvement with the project is ongoing and we have recently assisted with the application for Heritage Lottery Fund start-up that again has been successful and we are continuing to provide help and advice.

Project involvement included:

  • Project Viability Report

  • Grant Applications

  • Statement of Significance

  • Repair Schedule

Coppice Farmhouse - Ripley

Grade II

Previously part of a smallholding this 18th century Grade II farmhouse had seen recent changes with the associated land being hived off for a large residential development. The new owner of the neglected building was wishing to carry out repairs and alterations along with the reversal of unsympathetic 20th-century interventions. We advised on the correct methods and materials to be used for the completion of the works and also on the correct approach for improving the thermal efficiency without affecting the breathability of the historic fabric. With the work requiring both listed building consent and planning permission, we worked alongside the architectural practice who had been engaged by the client to ensure that all of the necessary requirements were met.

Project involvement included:

  • Heritage Statement

  • Repair Schedule

  • Heritage Impact Assesment

Old Hall Farm - Ashbourne

Grade II*

With parts of the building dating from the 16th century and with very few alterations since the 18th century, this Grade II* building had recently changed hands having been in the same family for many years. With the lack of regular maintenance and repair, a large list of urgent repairs had been adopted by the new owner who now wishes to adapt the building for modern living with minimum intervention and loss of historic fabric. To aid with the requirements we undertook a full survey of the building with the completion of a repairs schedule along with advising on the correct methods and materials to be used. Work was completed for the required planning permission and listed consent and applications submitted to the local council.

Project involvement included:

  • Statement of Significance

  • Design & Access Statement

  • Schedule of Works
